Almost everyone in the North Region knows Simon Barber!

For at least 16 years (that I know of), Simon has been at almost all of the Regional races (and a number of the Clubs), both winter and summer series, doing the sometimes thankless task  of commentating and anyone that has watched a race when the sound system is down knows how exciting a commentator can make the races.

About a decade ago Simon organised a charity event at the Astley Cycle Speedway Club for BMX racers to use their own bikes on a different track. I think I can speak for all of us that raced when I say that it was an excellent evening and loads of fun, maybe not for Simon though as he tried to demonstrated he old speedway skills on a motorbike and crashed. Over the years Simon has held a number of these events that have been very well supported by the BMX Race community and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

This year Simon has organised 2 races, the 4th & 25th of October and is supporting both the Alzheimer’s Society and the RSPCA, definitely worthwhile causes!

The BMX Race community is famous for their support of good causes, so if you are up for some fun and available on these dates, please help Simon make this year’s event the biggest yet!
